Diving De Leon Springs

De Leon Springs is a crystal-clear, 72°F spring just north of DeLand — and one of the calmest, most controlled places in Central Florida to learn to dive. Because the state park permits only instructor-led training in the water, you get to dive it with a certified instructor, which makes it an ideal classroom for brand-new divers.

Why we dive here

Depths run from a gentle 18 inches out to about 30 feet at the spring boil, with clear turquoise water and no current — perfect for dialing in buoyancy, mastering skills, and logging your first open-water dives in a safe, forgiving setting. The surrounding De Leon Springs State Park is a beautiful day out too, home to the historic Old Spanish Sugar Mill.
